About Building Bridges Project

Building Bridges helps create more inclusive care and support for children with disabilities, especially those aged 11 and older, in community programs like childcare, before and after school programs, and social activities. The goal is to make sure all children, no matter their abilities, can join in, learn, and have fun with their peers. Building Bridges focuses on helping older children with disabilities, who often don’t have enough opportunities in these programs.
Through Building Bridges, businesses, daycare centers, and before/after school programs get training and support to make their spaces more welcoming and accessible. The training shows them how to include children with disabilities in activities and use the resources they have in the best way. After the training, these programs continue to get help with any questions or challenges they face, so they can keep improving. Building Bridges gives them the tools and knowledge they need to make sure children with disabilities are included in their programs for the long term.
