North Dakota Center for Persons with Disabilities

Mythbuster Project

The Mythbuster Project is a collaborative effort that began in October of 2006 between the North Dakota Center for Persons with Disabilities at Minot State University, the North Dakota State Council on Developmental Disabilities (SCDD), and the Protection and Advocacy Project. The Mythbuster Project addresses the SCDD goal that “Individuals have access to other services available or offered in a community, including formal and informal community supports that affect their quality of life.” The project is specifically aimed at eliminating the misperceptions held by the general public about people with disabilities which create barriers to accessibility and full inclusion. In achieving this goal, the Mythbuster Project employs social marketing techniques to cultivate increased public awareness and appreciation for people with disabilities. If you would like additional information on this project, please contact Cynthia Salazar at 1(800) 233-1737.
